What We're About At Northlake Christian Church, we believe Family Life Home Groups are a great place for people to get connected.
Home groups were immediately formed in the church after Jesus ascended. Acts 2:42-27 is the model of the Family Life Home Group ministry. Many find that in an age of increasing depersonalization and isolation, home groups provide an opportunity for cultivating long-term relationships, for experiencing God in community, and finding your true value in Christ. FLHGs are ideally made up of 8 to 14 people who meet in someone's home for fellowship, Bible study, prayer and accountability. Groups study various materials that have been approved by our staff and elders. Some groups use sermon-based curriculum that reinforces the Sunday morning message. FLHGs are the place real life and real issues are discussed. This is the environment to celebrate the successes and good times of life and comfort one another in the tough and disappointing times. They encourage us, equip us, and challenge us to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Each home group decides when and where it wants to meet. Most groups meet weekly or every other week or as desired. Many FLHGs have a childcare plan. This may involve individual or shared babysitting, or rotating supervision by the group members. We don't want childcare concerns to hinder participation.
In an FLHG, we: - Study God's Word together
- Discuss issues and challenges of life
- Pray together
- Care for one another
- Miss you if you don't show up
